I was excited for this one. Lots of big names in the cast, lots of shooting in the trailer, seemed like a recipe for success. Okay, I lie... but I knew it was going to be somewhat enjoyable, probably have a crappy story, and I'd get to see my hero Ryan Reynolds.
The premise was cliched... the story was all over the place... and the characters were half-fleshed out and a lot of their stories never reached any sort of resolution. But with half-decent directing, this movie which tried its utmost to bring together the Mafia, the FBI, prostitutes, casinos, drugs, hitmen, rednecks, chainsaws (and in one painful scene, a redneck sitting
on a chainsaw) and lots and lots of guns - was somewhat fun to watch, and had its moments. Particular attention to detail at some points made for great
easter eggs in this half-baked omelette of a movie.
Rotten Tomatoes gave it a
27%, which I think is a little harsh, as this movie does have its moments, but they weren't too far off.
